Sandbox partnered with the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR), a global research organization, to create a four-part video series focused on their AI Futures Policy Labs.

As the labs were originally in-person workshops for policymakers, the video series was designed to be both educational and accessible to a broader audience. We addressed key topics such as AI’s rapid development, governmental policy responses, and the societal shifts that AI could bring about. Our goal was clear, engaging, digestible content for both policymakers and the general public.

To create dynamic content, we integrated interviews with leading AI experts from across Canada, providing valuable insights into the complex world of AI policy. These expert interviews were complemented by charming b-roll footage, animation, and motion graphics, to enhance the storytelling experience. The visual style was designed to align with the project’s overall aesthetic, ensuring that the videos remained informative but retained visual appeal. The result was a series of videos that were both educational and compelling, making complex AI concepts accessible to a broad audience, including those without technical backgrounds.

Additionally, Sandbox also updated existing workshop materials, including worksheets, large-scale canvases for group activities, and facilitation guides – designed for both in-person and online use. The materials, available in both English and French, were reworked to be visually cohesive with the videos, creating a seamless learning experience.

To further promote the AI Futures Policy Labs and reach a wider audience, Sandbox created three trailers and social media cut-downs to help raise awareness and generate interest in the series. By adapting the videos for various platforms, content could be shared widely – engaging policymakers, industry leaders, and the general public in discussions about AI. This comprehensive approach not only supported the workshops themselves, but also extended the reach of CIFAR’s important work on AI policy.
