Sandbox partnered with Ontario Tech University and eCampus Ontario to develop the Field Experience Learning Community (FELC) Online 2.0. This online module-based course was built to revolutionize training for Associate Teachers (ATs) involved in Ontario’s initial teacher education programs. The modules aim to bridge theoretical best practices with the realities of modern classrooms, providing ATs with dynamic, research-based resources. Additionally, the course explored the use of micro-credentialing as a means of formally recognizing ATs' contributions and professional development.

Sandbox collaborated with academic experts from Ontario Tech University and Brock University to develop the course using a responsive e-learning model, Articulate Rise. The modules feature vibrant visual design, interactive activities, and real-life video scenarios that model key interactions for effective teaching. To support these scenarios and reflect the diversity of Ontario classrooms, Sandbox edited and produced 12 enhanced video scenarios with six key actors. These videos, integrated into key lessons such as Associate Teacher of 21, enriched the learning experience and provided practical, relatable examples of teaching interactions.

By incorporating inclusive design principles and engaging multimedia elements, the FELC Online 2.0 course elevated the learning experience for ATs, teacher candidates, and school administrators. Positive reception from Ontario Tech University and end users led to additional development phases, further enhancing the course’s impact.

Throughout the project, Sandbox maintained close collaboration with the client to ensure the modules met rigorous educational standards, achieved online learning objectives, and aligned with the potential for micro-credential recognition. The result is a cutting-edge, effective training resource for educators shaping Ontario's next generation of teachers.
