Project Lead, Media Production

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a highly organized and creative Project Lead, Media Production to oversee the development and execution of high-impact media projects. The ideal candidate has a proven track record overseeing complex media projects, supervising post-production and live-action video productions, and strong concept development and content writing skills.

The Project Lead, Media Production will report to the Strategic Operations Manager and Executive Producer and collaborate closely with internal teams, clients and external production partners.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Client Management (50%)

  • Manage a portfolio of media projects from start to end, delivering on project goals within time and budget.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic advice to client teams and ensuring client needs are met.
  • Prepare, organize and maintain project documentation, using company tools and processes to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external project teams, ensuring alignment on expectations, timelines and project goals.
  • Oversee internal teams and external freelancers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all projects align with quality, creative, strategic, and technical requirements.

Writing & Media Conceptualization (20%)

  • Conceptualize and develop creative concepts for a variety of formats with outputs including pitch decks, visual and thematic references and/or moodboards, storylines, shot lists and scripts.
  • Produce written content for various video formats, including live-action, animation, and mixed-format productions.
  • Conduct background research to support media-driven projects.
  • Review and edit creative and technical written content developed by internal and external team members.
  • Ensure all written content aligns with strategic objectives and engages target audiences.

Post-Production Supervision (20%)

  • Oversee and manage post-production workflows for live-action, animation, and mixed-format media projects.
  • Provide creative direction and feedback to editors, animators, and other production team members to maintain quality and storytelling impact.
  • Supervise the editing process, ensuring alignment with creative briefs and brand messaging.
  • Conduct visual and story research to support media-driven projects.
  • Review and approve scripts, rough cuts, and final outputs, ensuring consistency and engagement.
  • Maintain quality assurance processes to ensure all media deliverables meet technical and creative standards.

Live-Action Production (10%)

  • Oversee and coordinate live-action video shoots, ensuring smooth execution from pre-production to post-production.
  • Manage on-set logistics, including scheduling, talent coordination, and directing crews as needed.
  • Provide guidance on cinematography, lighting, and set design to maintain creative consistency.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges in real-time, ensuring high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.

Marketing Strategy (Value-Add)

  • Develop marketing strategies for media projects when applicable.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate audience engagement strategies into media projects.
  • Collaborate with designers, writers, and digital teams to develop promotional assets.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance, optimizing strategies for effectiveness.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • 5-7 years of experience in media production, project management, communications, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience in a creative agency setting would be a strong asset.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including attention to detail, organizational and time management skills, with a proven track record of juggling multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent team leadership skills, with a knack for mentorship and delivering clear and constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrated strategic problem-solving skills, with an ability to anticipate and mitigate issues in complex projects.
  • A growth-oriented mindset, with an eagerness to experiment, learn, and innovate.
  • Familiarity and interest in the use of AI would be a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a proven record of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and clients.
  • Strong writing skills, with experience in scriptwriting, creative storytelling, and content development.
  • A strong eye for aesthetics and brand consistency, ensuring high-quality media output.
  • Interested in media content that educates, makes an impact, and/or is data-driven.

Bonus If You…

  • Have experience in marketing & communications within the non-profit or public sectors.
  • Have experience producing immersive media formats.
  • Have experience working on digital learning products.
  • Are fluent or bilingual in French or Spanish.

The Hiring Process

The hiring process involves the following steps:

Compensation & Perks

  • Salary: $75K-$90K, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Start date: As soon as possible. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
  • Hybrid work: Tuesdays and Thursdays our team works in-office.
  • Working hours: 9:00am-5:30pm EST
  • Paid vacation: 20 days of paid time off, including 15 vacation days and 5 days of office closure, (typically over Christmas and New Year’s).
  • Health benefits: Extended health, dental and vision benefits that kick in after three months of employment. We offer both single and family plans, with cost-sharing options.
  • Onboarding: A 30-60-90 plan that sets goals for the position over the first three months, and establishing who will be tracking those goals.
